Gap in The Market Place MD George Moss explains the background: ‘We have worked in football for over 15 years and recognised there is a gap in the market for a dedicated Football Trade Directory. We operate other well established football web sites and this project was born out of our own frustrations at getting information. ‘Clubs need suppliers and suppliers want clubs. It’s an obvious marriage and the Directory is effectively a matchmaker for both parties. ‘The beauty of having a parallel web site, is that club and business data can be constantly updated, giving users instant access to a whole range of businesses, clubs and organisations. ‘Also, unlike other sources of information, it covers the whole football pyramid down to County level, with over 6,000 Clubs involved at the moment, and this figure is set to grow in 2008/09.’ On-going developments The Directory is now in its second year, an achievement in itself, and with the help of Blackburn's Digital Development Unit you will see a revamped website later in the Autumn.
Meanwhile we are about to publish the 2008/09 Football Trade Directory which will be sent to registered clubs. We believe this is a very useful addition to the website.
Following on from the succesful launch of our newsletter, and a fantastic response at the Grass Roots Expo at the NEC in May, we reached the 6,000 club milestone in August 2008. There are now over 6,500 registered clubs on the website.
The number of registered businesses has almost doubled in 12 months, with over 1,500 on the site.
Following feedback from users, we will be re-arranging some of the categories (this has already been done for the paper directory) to make them even more user friendly.
